In Coliseum news:
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Mike Pascal will no longer be a member of Coliseum. For over seven years, Mike has been our bass player and like a younger brother to me. He joined the band in Fall 2004 for our first extended tour and made his recorded debut in Coliseum on the Goddamage EP a few months later, playing every show since then and on every following release. We’ve traveled the world together and had more great times than I can count. While this is difficult at the moment, Mike’s departure from the band is the right thing for him and I know we will all be better for it.

There are certainly times when I’ve considered throwing in the towel and putting an end to Coliseum, but ultimately I remain as inspired and passionate about the band as ever. There are always peaks and valleys and there have been times when I felt like we were fighting a losing battle, but the good has always outweighed the bad. Coliseum played its first show just over eight years ago and I am humbled by all we’ve accomplished, all the people we’ve met, all the places we’ve played, all the bands we’ve toured with and all of the great guys who have been members of the band. I feel incredibly lucky to continue to have Carter as a bandmate and Temporary Residence as our label. We are very excited about the new material we’ve been writing and look forward to recording the fourth Coliseum album this Fall.

We will play our show with Tragedy in Louisville on May 18th with a friend filling in on bass and will take our time finding a new permanent member. Thanks for your continued support, it means the world to us.

So my big idea of doing a design every day of May is already derailed by more immediate real life issues. Maybe June…

I’ve decided to issue a challenge to myself to design a new shirt/poster/image every day during the month of May. The designs will not be for a specific band, they’ll just be stuff I dig. I’ll post them here and on my Facebook and each design will be for sale at a special price after it’s completed, at which point I can add in your band logo, etc. I don’t know if I’ll be able to accomplish this lofty goal, but I’m going to give it a shot!

Repost this, spread it around, and get in touch!

Coliseum is playing Chicago on Friday as part of the “Rumble” fest at the Bottom Lounge and in Cincinnati on Saturday at Mainstay. It will be nice to take a break from writing our new record and play a couple shows, maybe test some new songs out, and see some friends too. These will probably be our only shows outside of Louisville until Fall. Come out and hang!

I wouldn’t normally post something so quickly after it was designed/approved, but I really dig this and I’m very happy to have designed a shirt for Shaved Women, one of my favorite active punk/hardcore bands.

I just designed a 7”/CD package for the band Downburst. They wanted a kind of 90s vibe and it was fun to revisit some of the style of work I was doing earlier in my “career.” Check it out above.

Black God’s video for “Everyone’s A Friend” from II!

The BORIS “Looprider” shirt I designed is now available from Shirt Killer. This was inspired by the song of the same name from their New Album LP and the tour with did with them where I got to see their Space Echo units on stage and in action every night. Atsuo provided some crucial input in that he got me the image of the actual model they use and their specific settings! So if you want the exact Boris echo, check this sucker out.
(My typo of NOT was meant to be NOW, which is a pretty crucial letter in that sentence. It is NOW available from Shirt Killer!)

I haven’t posted much lately - been busy as usual. Lots of design, Coliseum at SXSW, Black God and Whips/Chains shows at home… Good stuff across the board. Here’s some recent work.

Black God’s new 7” EP and t-shirt are available now from Shirt Killer, along with various combo options including the first and second 7”s, the 7”s and the shirt, etc. Very excited about this record!

I’m stoked to be a part of the next vend-a-pin artist series! Ryan Patterson and SKLTNRYL both have designs too.

Color me stoked as well! I contributed two designs to Vend-A-Pin featuring Louisville related classic horror movies. The first is Henry Hull who played the Werewolf Of London and was born in Louisville in 1890. The second is a special “freaky” mystery pin.
